I have run over the power cable to my lawnmower. How can I fix this?

Accidentally my husband ran over the power cable and now we have a very short lead to the rotary lawnmower and a long one to the plug. Can I wire in a plug and use an extension lead or is this too dangerous?

I don't recommend a jury-rigged fix on an outdoor electrical cord. Wet grass conducts as well as anything else wet!!!
You can get a good 50-foot outdoor cord at any of the "big-box" stores. PLug it in & mow.
You "flake" the cord zig-zag at the starting place, and mow "away" from the starting point. Pardon if I'm sounding
pedantic.

you could either wire in a plug to an extension lead or just repair the original wire just peal back the casing on both ends and re join each wire use pleanty of insulation tape around each wire then around them both an keep them away from the lawnmower blades
