How to remove one china mug stuck inside another?

When emptying the dishwasher, I placed one china mug inside another. They are now stuck fast and short of breaking one of the mugs I do not know how to release them. Any advice please

pour a litte oil - sunflower or olive - between the two and gently try and remove my twisting

Try putting them in very hot water. Try to pull them apart once they have been in the water for a few seconds, but (obviously) be very careful (wear gloves) when doing so.
