The flourescent light in my Belling format Cooker panel isnt working?

The flourescent light in my Belling format Cooker panel isnt working. I have tried a new 13w tube and it does not light either

I had the flourescent light go and replacing the tube and starter did not cure it. I then found that there is a timer board in a panel on the back of the cooker which switches the light on and also the red hot hob light. An electolytic capacitor in the power supply on this had failed. Replacing this cured the problem.

Another thought. When I refitted my old tube it took several attempts to engage the elec contacts properly before it would light, albeit dimly as before!

No answer I am afraid, I am in the same position. Minutes before finding your question I ordered a new tube and starter! The tube in my Belling lights very dimly but only at each end. I tried a higher wattage starter and it tried to light the full width but was not stable. I will let you know what happens when I fit the new tube and starter. Please also see my question regarding main cooker overheating.
