Just moved into a house and inherited a built in Ariston LSi 61 Dishwasher. Thought we'd try it out before we loaded it and none of the programs work.

The machine is powered on and I can select a program, it begins the cycle, loads a little water but then just stops. The element heats up but the machine doesn't do anything - I have to power off (to turn off the element) or change program to drain the water.

Any ideas?

I had the same problem, it turned out the problem was that the drain was somewhat blocked. It was therefore draining too slowly after the first rinse and I guess as a precaution, it cut out. I had my drains sorted and it worked fine again. If your other drains seem somewhat blocked up, that may be the problem.
