It prints black from the scanner/copier and printing a page from a PC. The scan lamp does light. I don't want to purchase a drum if the drum is not the problem.

Have you got the colour setting selected?
Click 'Start', then 'Printers', click on 'print options' then the 'advanced' tab, you should now have the alternatives of 'colour' or 'greyscale'. Click 'colour' and you should be ok.
Give it a try, this may be your problem.
