What can I do when my touchpad is non-responsive?

I have a Toshiba laptop and normally just use the touchpad. All of a sudden--after my cat walked across the keyboard!-the touchpad will not respond. Connected mouse and that does work--but without it cursor is non-responsive. What do I do?

A cat and mouse story...

Stagger from control panel to printers and other hardware and look at "mouse" - some drivers have the ability to disable the touchpad - see how yours is set up.

Good luck...
