I have accidently cut the wire,wile using?

I have accidently cut off the electric wire to the hedge trimmer while operatig. I have re done the connection but machine is not working. What can be the problem, can the motor damage.( black & decker GT370-GT371 )

You don't say how you did the reconnection? I hope that you did a good job and didn't just twist the wires together and tape them up. If you are in the UK you may have banged out bthe plug fuze, your RCD (I assume that you have one?), or another fuze.
