how can I fix my central locking?

Hi I have just bought an 07 astra should the central locking work from the drivers door? The key fob isnt working and I can only lock the driver's door with the key. Any ideas?

the central locking should work from drivers door if it is not locking all doors from drivers door then it could be locking motor in door is faulty
