i've gone through your suggestions of cleaning and then changing the laser head, which I have done, I couldn't find any A/S solder 'blobs' to remove, is this normal? if not could you post a picture to show where it would be?
The disks won't even spin up now so could the motor(s) be faulty?

Did anyone answer your question? I am in the process of repalcing my laser and I dodn't see any blobs of solder that need to be removed either.
