i have a problem with ceiling rose wiring-can anyone help?

i'm trying to put up some spotlights in my son's room and have come across a problem,i can't find any circuit diagrams or explanations covering the wiring coming from the ceiling rose which is as follows-2 cables have-1xred wire,1xblack wire&1xearthwire in them,but,the third cable has-2xred wires&1xearth wire inside,i haven,t come across this kind of wiring in any books or websites i,ve looked at..what do i do?..i'd be very grateful for any help.thanks,huw.

you wont find answer like this in a book every cct can be done different dependin on whats on the cct ..you could have feed neutral and earth times 2 then you have a twin red which will go to the switch this is another feed from your ceiling rose and the switch wire back ..this is called the loop in system but from what you have said you could also have another sw wire neutral and earth if the switch controls more than one light any more probs contact me on 07886 852853

The two red wire cable will be the switch return. The live and neutral come into the celing rose. The live is then joined to one wire on the switch return. This runs to the wall switch where it is either closed or open to the other red wire in the double red cable. At the rose, the returning red wire and the back are then used as the switched supply to your fitting.
