heating problem?

recently purchased a used 4250.... wasn't heating all the time and was told by gbc it was the heat sensor.. put a new one in, but everytime it will not heat up, i take entire laminator apart, unscrew where the heat sensor is, let it sit away from rollers... then all is fine and heats up....put machine all back together....works fine untill next time i turn it on....same thing, doesn't heat and repeat process... could it be a broken wire...help

you might have a bad thermal fuse or poor contact at the board plug.

leave the back cover open and try to reproduce the problem, when it doesnt heat use a wooden stick to gently press on the plug assembly.

Incidently if you can install a transistor the board failure is a bad transistor available from digi key for about 12 bucks, far cheaper than from GBC

the thermal fuse is the other device on that hard to reinstall mount under the the lower roller. they sometimes open a loose or partially burned wire to the fuse can cause the intermittent you describe.

My business is fixing all brands of roll laminators in the pittsburgh area
