Danfoss TRV will not close?

I've read all the threads on TRV not opening but I have the opposite problem, it will not close and is on max all the time. The setting dial rotates but is obviously not shutting the valve. Is this a problem with the inner valve. Does it meaan a complete change or is there a quick fix?

Hi Manch,
Did you get to the bottom of this? We have the same problem with at least two Danfoss valves that are set to max all the time.

From what I can gather: I can push the pin in and out with my finger but when I replace the plastic cover the central portion of the top is being pushed up i.e. not resisting the pin and pushing it down - if that makes sense!

Did you go for full replacement in the end?

Thanks Brian.
No, the plastic cover is not tight and rotates under normal tension Off to Full.
I'm assuming that the pin mentioned in other threads is part of the thermostat section and presses onto a seperate piston within the brass valve section which actually shuts off the flow. If correct then I'm guessing that the piston is damaged or debris is trapped at the closure point.
Think I'll need to go down the full replacement route.

if the big chrome/plastic nut is tight then you need a new top depending how old it is you may be able to buy just the top or buy complete valve and just use top
