For the last few washes my Hotpoint WMD960 Ultima does not appear to be heating the water. The clothes come out very cold and don't seem to be as clean as previously. The screen isn't giving any error codes and is completing the cycle. What is wrong? Has the heater element broken?

If the heater is ok then we can test/repair the main module for you. Repair is £49.90+vat plus postage of £5+vat. If no fault found, then we just charge the postage of £5+vat.
