hi im replacing a two way switch with a new one.i have found that the old switch as got 2 cables entering the box.The 2 common wires are block connected and the blue/yellow wires are connected to the switch via a wire fitting on the back with 2 L2 at the top and 2 L1 at the bottom, the problem i have is how do i wire the new switch when it only as 1 L1/L2 and a common fixing? please note i have tried to connect the switch as normal but the light is always on

i have just found your question and guess that by now you have had professional advice already. Here is the solution anyway- the existing switch is an `intermediate`switch and not just a 2-way switch ie it is one of three or more switches controlling one lighting circuit. you will need to exchange the new 2-way switch for an intermediate switch then connect as before . reds jointed, yellows in L1`s and corresponding blues in L2`s

I would highly recommend that you get in a profesional, electrocution can be a deadly result.
