how can i get past the BAD_POOL_CALLER error?

i had windows XP on my dell desktop, but was going to reinstall it. i put in the OS cd and started it. half way through it came up with the message about BAD_POOL_CALLER. i restarted several time, trying safe mode(which it won let me do in the middle of setup) and unplugging everything but my monitor and keyboard. i have no usb devices but my printer which was unhooked. i dont know what else to do!

it is a driver issue, therefore update all drivers and/or remove devices till error stops

I got the same message when I installed some new ram. The ram was bad.

also the stop codes are:
0x000000c2(0x00000007, 0x000000c04, 0x00340045, 0xe182eefc) these come up on the blue screen with the pool error.
