I put new nylon cord onto the spool of my trimmer but now the mechanism won't lock into position resulting in the cord continually coming out as I am trying to use it! I have checked and re-checked that I have wound the cord on correctly - I have tried winding it on clockwise & anti-clockwise but no difference! It is as though something has broken that it will not lock in order to work properly.

Have you lost the toggle that locks into the spool?

The line will only work in one direction, so follow the markings on the spool, or buy a new one made by
