We have a schrieber double wardrobe with mirror which
dates from the late 70's and came from my late parents
house. We cannot get the wardrobe up our stairs to the bedroom so need to dismantle wardrobe and the put it back together again

Few will remember 30 years ago... check the back to see how it's fixed on - they were often tacked on with tiny nails - this will have to come off first. Then the doors.

lay it on its back and attempt to remove the top and the base. The general case then (as I recall) and now as far as I know - is that the only tool you should need is a cross point screwdriver.
