Scantronic 9449 panel (with four 9427 keypads) fault problem... ?

9449 and keypads installed 13 years ago (by me). Faultless operation until now (only two minor 'prematures' in 13 years). Now exhibiting beeping fault condition. But displayed condition does not match any combination shown in User or Installation/Programming Guides. Power light is on (steady), fault light is flashing (together with 5 sec interval beeping) but no other leds are lit, either steady or flashing. No zones, not service led, nothing. Any ideas please. Could it be low battery? It is a few years since it was renewed (7A/h). Mains power is present and correct. The alarm will set OK whereupon the fault light extinguishes and the beeping stops until alarm is unset again and they resume.
Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks both... I'll get a new battery. I would say it's been renewed twice I think, in the alarm's 13-year life, so as you suggest, it's about ready to pop its clogs. When it died last time though it didn't give quite the symptoms I'm getting now, but I suppose, if a circuit's supply voltage is low (assuming a low battery is either dragging down the supply rail or is failing to keep supply source impedance adequately low) unexpected results can occur.

Some companies change the batteries after 3 yrs, most 5. Yours is 13 years old.
So as the other man says, Change the battery!
