why does my reverse light stay on sometimes when i'm in a forward gear?

i have a automatic vauxhall cosrsa (2004) and sometimes when i take it out of reverse the reverse light stays on, is this a simple fix i can do myself, if so how please, or do i need to take it to a garage?

Dismantle switch on the top of the box and if not damaged clean and reasemble. Ensure adjustment correct.
