how do you remove drive shaft from cv joint on rover 45?

hi am trying to replace n/s cv boot on my rover45 but cant seem to disconect shaft from cv joint ,have removed circlip from cv joint end of shaft and dropped suspension but it still wont come out and its driving me mad,help please

to remove the complete shaft from the gearbox you will need a lever or wedges inbetween the inner cv joint and the gearbox,the shaft should come out with a few hits from a hammer,i had to do this when replacing the engine!

you may be better cutting off old boot and get a stretch boot to fit,you dont need to remove any cv joints to do this,fitting cone and boot kit on e bay for a few quid.
