Dont know m/c, but thread tensioners are usually two plates held together with a screw, with a spring between screw head and top plate, allowing the top plate to move up and down, turn the screw down, increases spring pressure and tension on thread, screw up, loosen. So not much to go wrong, Maybe some thread stuck in it, But other than that nothing to go wrong
