Zanussi Tempoline Plus Auto - overheating?

My Zanussi Tempoline Plus Auto seems to be getting very hot and giving off a dry acrid smell/ It just about gets through a short 30 minute programme but seems to stop and come up with a -6- fault code on longer programmes. I have pulled it out and checked filters etc. It seems that the bitumin backing is getting very hot and could be the source of the smell/smoking.

Anyone have any ideas on the problema dn how to fix it?

Many thanks
