question was noisey clutch on fiat multipla squealing sound and burning smell when clutch depressed
clutch not slipping, but crunches when engaging reverse gear

If the clutch isn't slipping then it sounds like a problem with the pressure plate and clutch release bearing.

I bet the pressure plate "fingers" have about worn through. That will mean the clutch won't disengage fully when you depress the pedal. Your synchromesh will be trying try to compensate in the forward gears but eventually you'll ruin your gearbox too.

Time for a new clutch I'm afraid.

I'd get a quote from your local "Mr Clutch", they should know what they are doing and their prices are usually reasonable.
