Hi

I ahve a 2002 vw bora 1.8t and was sitting for a while but started rang out of petrol and now wont start no sound from fuel pump so changed relay still nothing no power to pump etc at a total loss

The fuel pump relay needs a "GO" signal from the immobiliser circuit in the speedo unit, another from the engine ECU and the Airbag control unit before it will energise and put power to the pump, you can prove the pump and the wiring/fuses to it by removing the relay and put a shorting link between pins 17 & 23
