iveco eurostar cab lock wont release anyone know why?

iveco eurostar 1997 the tilting works just the lock wont release to tilt the cab need help

Seam to remember the cab lock was linked to the gear shift, which ment it wouldnt un-lock unless the gear lever was in the correct position. This might be centre left!!
