how do i get a refund or a replacement on a product?

i hava a breville bread maker model no: BBM600 that i brought my boyfriend for christmas from clive anthonys. it is a top of the range product and we have only used it twice and the container the mixes the bred dough is all scratched inside. we took it back to get a replacement but we were accused of delebertly destroying it ourselves by using a knife or something similar why we would do that when its a non stick product. all i want is for it to be replaced or a full refound.

Assuming that you are in the UK, under the Sale of Goods Act, up to six months from time of purchase, it is up to the retailer to prove that the product isn't fault rather than you prove that it is.

Having said that, I have had a breadmaker for about ten years and the non-stick surface is still pretty much pristine and so I am at a loss as to how yours could get scratched under normal use.

I'm afraid that I would take the same view as the retailer - miss-use.
