inside the switch are small wires which turn with steering when you take the off it as to be in middle so that it can turn each way without breaking wires. it plugs into air bag which turns with the wheel they can come loose or not go in right and that will give same fault.if you took it to a garage and its not right they shoud be covered if they broke it with putting it back wrong.french spares will have secondhand one at right price or ebay
