Hi There, I have a 1400 Golf 1 carb driven. I have had endless hasles with a rev problem. I put in a new carb kit and it was running fine however now it refuses to idle and if I pull out the chock it revs go up and down. When I take the carb off and check it and clean out all the jets I put it back and its fine ag ain until I rev the car then its back to not idleing. If I pull out the chock and drive, the revs increase when I turn left and decrease when I turn right. Also the car doesnt switch off straight away when I turn off the key. Any ideas what it could be?
1st forget the choke, that is for cold starting, and should never be used after that, increases the mixture, which will cause other problems.
Look for something sticking. Start with basics, rather than jumping in feet 1st
