Toshiba RD85DT will not record to DVD?

Toshiba RD85DT Records to HDD, but will not record to DVD.
Appears to start recording, but then drops out giving error message suggesting dirty heads. Have cleaned heads several times, but no improvement. Plays DVD's fine, but DVD recording has rarely been used.
