have a eumig 820 sonomatic , the machine seems to load the film well until I turn rotary selector key to play ,the threading key does not seem to lock down and the film spills out of the front between the open jaws of the threading key mechanism , can anyone suggest what I can do or what I am doing wrong ?

when you put the film into the top entry, at the same time you have to push down the plastic claw near the lens area and hold it down until the film appears at the other end!
