How can I fix cast-on using Brother KH840?

I have not used my machine for a few years. I have produced many garments on this machine so I know it works. I put it together this afternoon but cannot get the cast-on stitches to loop round the cast-on comb. They stay under the gate pegs. I have checked all the settings, tension, feed etc, have oiled all parts but cannot work out why the work won't transfer to the cast-on comb. Helpp!!!!!!!!!

Hi Janice,

As your machine has not been used for a while, have you checked the sponge bar? Perhaps the needles are sitting just a bit too high for the yarn to catch the comb. The other way of casting on would be to pull forward alternate needles, knit one row and hang the comb on the loops formed. Then bring forward the in between needles and continue knitting.
Hope you get it sorted,
