How to remove fuel-pump from fuel gauge sender unit.Ford focus 2002?

Hi.i have removed the fuel-pump and fuel gauge sender unit from the fuel tank, but cant get the pump out of the sender unit.I have tried twisting and pulling it, but it dos'nt seem to want to come out.Appreciate any help,Thanks.
