How do I get the pump out of a puraflo household septic tank?

The LCB is tripping and I need to have a look at and clean the pump. I investigated an alarm on the cover and the switch had tripped. I switched it back on and it pumped for a few hours and tripped again. Can I pull the pump and connecting flexible pipe up using the cable attached?
What else might be causing the problem? System is in for about 10 years with no problems.
