Eco and fast lights flashing?

I have a hotpoint fdw60 dishwasher, the eco(45*) and the fast (40*) lights are flashing.
It's sounds like the first stage of what I can only presume is the drain pump has not started. It buzzes a bit the the two lights that I have just described then start flashing.
Any suggestions ?
