How to fix a metal washer that's fixed into a cotton shirt? ?

I have a cotton hoodie, and a metal loop that gives entrance to the hood cord is breaking away from the cotton. It's intially snapped on, it appears. One sew shop said they couldn't do anything. I asked about super-glueing it and they said no. Ideas? Boo to Eddie Bauer.

You can buy eyelets - you put them in the hole and bash them flat to make the seal at the back (or special pliers) - a good haberdashery or an outdoor/camping shop will be able to supply them - Amazon too... all sizes...
