Renault Clio 1 (1993) ignition wiring pulled out?

I have the aforementioned merdemobile for use as a mule while in my home in the south of France. I leave it at the station when I am off working, as it's so rubbish no-one would steal it. Or so I thought.

Last night when I came home someone had broken in and tried to hotwire it, without knowing what a piece of rubbish it really is, and that it's difficult to start anyway. They failed, but left the ignition wiring hanging out.

Underneath the drivers-side dash there's a plastic cover, now lying on the floor, and inside there are four wires leading to the steering column and I made a good enough connection last night to start it and get home, however the indicators don't work, and neither does the diesel glowplug light. I am also concerned that, although it starts, it may well be drawing power, which would leave it dead for my next trip. Does anyone know the correct order for replacing these wires?
