I select the programme and the washing machine starts, its fills with water and starts washing but does not go on to drain spin or rinse automatically like it used to do. Its stays washing so I have to switch it off and move the dial manually then switch it back on to go through the programme It is a Candy CNA 135 front loader 5kg max had it from new in July 2005

check the heating element.the mechanical timer holds until the water reaches temp then proceed so most likely the heater not working
