when I press the power on button the button lights up the three button lights to the left of the power on button light up the two outside buttons then go off leaving the middle button with the a flashing then after a few seconds the flashing stops and the power light goes out

Middle flashing and outside lit = RAM problem.

I don't see middle flashing and outside off.

REMOVE the battery and DISCONNECT the charger.

Try reseating your RAM moduls: Remove and replace each modul, one by one.
Try replacing your RAM if reseating don't work.
