Can a freezer be used in a garage?

My garage is as cold as 20 degrees F in the winter and 90-95 in the summer. Will it hurt the upright freezer to be operated in these extremes?

Domestic freezers are designed to work at room temp. At these temps, in winter the outside temp would stop the freezer from cooling properly , the food would not be freezing down to the correct temp. In summer it would run not stop.
