I have the same issue, so I gently pried up the two switches on the top (green and white) and it works as along as I don't push the switches to be flush with top. My machine was not used for 10 years and when I tried it I couldn't turn the knobs to turn it on. But by prying them off and them putting them on most of the way without pushing them down to be flush with the top they work. No idea why they won't work in the fully flush position. Good luck!
