Cassette tape recording has split?

Is there anyway I can mend a split tape.
I have recorded on it. My Uncle who was giving his after dinner speech. He passed away a few years ago. And would dearly love to be able to hear him again.
Has anybody any ideas.

nail varnish was a big hit back in the days. get some nail varnish apply it to one side of the broken tape, then overlap the other side of the break over approximately 1 inch overlap. let it set 24 hours and should work fine. fixed plenty tapes in the 80's for my parents this way
