you follow electro advice, you are made for each other ,both are thick

and if you do replace any socket yourself, get yourself a martindale tester and test socket for proper wiring ,you plug it into the socket and if all ok you will get 3 lights in a row,but check for a rccd in your fuse box

check to see if you have an rccd unit in fuse box before buggering about replacing this and that, its an expensive way of fixing something ,better and cheaper to get a spark in to test the db (fuse box)
if you have an rccd unit then check to see if the switch is down if it is press it all the way down then flip it back up

Over time, electric sockets get worn out and need to be replaced.
Get a replacement. Most hardware store should be able to sel you one.
REMOVE the fuse or switch the breaker OFF.
Remove the wall plate.
Remove the old socket.
Connect the new socket and attach it into the electric box.
Put back the wall plate.
Put the fuse back in or switch the breaker ON.
