How do I fix my Creative Zen Microphoto?

I dropped my 8GB Creative Zen Microphoto from about waist height. When I turn it on, it freezes and makes humming noises from inside the player. How do I fix it?
Ryan, November 2006
There have been several people from all over the world who've had this problem. The problem is the type of memory the player uses; the slightest shake can kill it.

As for Creative, they won't and haven't done a thing about it.
You'll find so called ways to fix it, which include things like shaking it and throwing it against the wall to "make a piece of dust budge loose from the circuit board," but the truth is none of these solutions work.

The Final Verdict:
Sorry, the only thing you can do is join the hundred of thousands of people who now own a 200 dollar paperweight.
