gearbox problems with my Renault megane dynamique 2007?

Hi my renault megane dynamique 2007 model seems to be struggling to get out of second gear what would the problem be? I was driving and heard a clunk from the gear box then check gear box flashed up it then went out . Is it safe to drive?
