I banged on my steering wheel while tooting at a silly driver who was about to drive into my lane and I think that's when I noticed the airbag light on, cud this have caused the light to go on? Will this be expensive to fix or is it easily fixed :-/

Yes it may be a damaged air bag/clock spring,the only way to know is to get it onto a correct computer for a look at faults stored
