Miele 230c novotronic?

Hi my Miele is taking ages to dry clothes, you can feel the heat but it doesn't appear to be as hot as normal. Would this be the thermostat or heater element? We bought a cheap belko one in the meantime, which we had trouble with and an engineer came out and we asked him just to check our Miele one while he was there. He said that Miele tumble dryers have two heater elements and it may be working just on one, not sure if it's true. Any help much appreciated

The condenser is an aluminium long box could be bottom left or right depending on model, its behind a plastic door that drops down, open door then release plastic locking tabs and pull out the box, clean it out (you can run a hosepipe through it )Have you found this ? or are you calling it a filter? The element is in 2 parts so that you can energise all of it on full heat or only half of it on low heat setting.

The machine is a condenser type, I've taken the filters out to clean, where is the condenser situated? I have removed the thermostat and stuck this in the freezer to try and reset, is it possible then that only half of the greater element is working, I thought if it's faulty none of it would work?

Usually if you have a component fault on Mieles a fault code is displayed if you do not have this then it could just be a functional problem. I presume you have cleaned out the condenser if it is a condenser model or the vent outlet if it is vented. Also the half moon shaped fine filters in the doorway can become blocked with a white powder like deposit which will inhibit the airflow. Your engineer should have been able to do a power consumption test( needs no dismantling to do this) which would tell you if the heater was working to full power.
