How to fix tripping electric from a socket?

My electric keeps tripping from a socket in the bedroom .its not the appliances as I have tried a hair dryer and a Hoover.how do I go about fixing this?

check to see if someone has taken a feed of the socket to a garage or shed

It could be damp, changing it would be prudent they only cost £1.24 from Wickes. is it on an outside wall? when you take it off see if there's moisture inside the box

Hi thanks for trying to help.its an existing socket in an established house and it's tripping the main RCD of the house.
Yes when we plug something in it trips but it will also work for a while then trip.?

How do you know its a particular socket that's tripping the power,i'm assuming that when you plug something into that socket it trips.
the first thing i would do is take socket off and check inside,is it a new socket or an existing socket?please reply as i would like to help you but need more info ie is it it's own circuit breaker that's tripping or the main RCD
