hi when the chair lift reaches the bottom and stops it will not go back up unless i wind it back up a few inches then its fine. i have a stannah 260 siena chair lift.

My Stannah has a grating sound ,as though it has come off the track, it won't go up at all? Is there anything I can do ( weak female!!!) or do I need an ebgineer?

Hi Matt..........It sounds like your stair lift is over travelling at the bottom,[all stair lift models have a cut out switch when the lift over travels].What is happening is the brass prong that picks up the charge from the charge points is going into far,you need to adjust the bottom charge point slightly,first mark where it is now with pencil/tape and tap downwards by 1/4"[you might have to loosen the fixing holding the charge point first]Hope this will help you, let me know how you get on...........paul/portsmouth/uk
