BG 532 boiler and RS1 thermostat. CH not working?

When I turn the thermostat dial, there's no clicking sound and it doesn't start the CH. I haven't a clue how to troubleshoot this or fix it. Can someone please make some suggestions. Thanks

When I run the hot water tap the pilot light led comes on and I have hot water. Seems it's just the CH. I would like to understand how the dials etc on the boiler work too but I can only find installation docs but no user manual
