How to fix light fixture?

My bulb keeps burning out every 2-5 months. House is about 25-30 years old. The light fixture has been changed but did not make a differance. The rest of the house is working good.

Turned off a trip switch to change a light switch, when I turned trip back on some on the lights that are on the same circuit are not working yet the trip switch is not tripping?

if your using halogen bulbs you must not touch them with ur fingers, also cheap bulbs do that, one more thing,do you have a light dimmer in circuit?if you do,this can be the cause, because light dimmers cause the element to "sing" (vibrate) this causes premature failure of the bulb, there is nothing in a light fitment that causes a bulb to blow

You might be using inferior lamps in this fitting - ones with low-hour life.

You might be switching them on and off more often than other lamps in your house - the repeated thermal shock of warming up and cooling down more often might have an impact on their life span.

There might be a poor connection in the circuit that supplies them - the switch or any junction box that feeds them - or a poor connection in the neutral return path. This will possibly have a similar effect as switching them on and off rapidly.

Vibration from passing traffic or loud music could have an impact.

I'm just guessing..., February 2015
